The Washington, D.C. premiere of "The David Dance" was produced as part of The Trumpet Vine Theatre Company's 2005-2006 season. Performances were May 18th through June 10th, 2006. It was directed by Vincent Worthington; scenic design by Vincent Worthington; costume design by Cat Martin; lighting design by Connor Dale; and sound design by Jeff Kellum.  Cast: Liesyl Franz, Anne Paine West, Elena Flores, Jon Hefner and Don Scime.

"The brother-sister relationship burns brightly... Don Scime -- who portrayed David at the 2003 New York International Fringe Festival -- imbues the radio host with an endearing gawky shyness. He does a particularly nice job with the transformations preceding the "Gay Talk" segments. As the actor's posture straightens and his face lights up, we can see that David on-air is vastly more confident than David in private life..." - The Washington Post

"A bittersweet celebration of life." - The Washington Blade

"The play is one of those 'slice of life' pieces with touching elements of adversity, portraits of romantic attachments and the exchange of light banter that can garner a number of laughs between either sighs or an occasional choked back sob... Don Scime provides a polished performance in the lead role of the confident radio spokesperson who is shy off the air. He establishes a warmly humorous and naturally affectionate relationship with Liesyl Franz as his sister. The pair are nicely comfortable on stage..."  - Potomac Stages

"Touching... A gentle comedy / drama... Don Scime brings a smooth stage presence to the role of the brother... Franz plays the sister with humor and natural warmth that matches Scimé's own personality well, so they make a fine pair."
- The Connections Newspaper

"'The David Dance' is a powerful reminder that for many young -- and not so young -- being gay is a lifelong struggle. Thought-provoking... For the thousands of silently suffering Davids and Davidas it could be a life-changing evening. This is a small theatre with a big heart." - The Del-Ray Sun

"This play really goes into the philosophical innards of the cultural wars like few dramas do, and with quite a lot of didactic brilliance. It is compelling, because the protagonist comes off as such a strong, thirty-something adult male lead."
